The Mask

Truth is we hide yourself lest others know
Hiding ourselves to make others happier
Everyone has their own problems to face

Masterly I give you the answer you want
Ask someone "how are you feeling today"
Same reply is nearly always given I am ok
Knowing this look beyond the mask I wear

Was it Shakespeare who said we must "put on a face to meet the faces that we meet."?

There is a lot of truth in this poem. We all hide our true selves to some extent or another. At times I try to come up with oddball answers to the standard how are you questions. It can be most entertaining watching the reaction!
