The Mask
Behind the Mask
A story unknown to those deceived
The pain, the anguish
The stress, the troubled anxiety
There's a glorious presentation
It's a beautiful, wonderful life
But when the curtain comes to a close
You never ever see the emptiness they hide
They're projecting an image
A fictitious story they cultivate and sell
The gap between “who I am” and “what I'm not”
Becomes a nightmare - a metaphorical living hell
The Mask is our cloths
It's our rhetoric - its the color of our hair
It's the car we drive - it's our screenshot
It's the insincere concern that we care
The Mask is hot - It's suffocating
It's hard to wear all the time
Its toxic
It consumes the calm mind
So take off the Mask
Expose the seller of the soul
The reality - you are enough
It is in the quiet that you become whole
The true self is screaming
It has been stuffed deep inside
Its gasping for air
Ironically clinging to a false image to survive
But as we reach for the truth
Enlightened - the exposure hurts our eyes
It's the beginning of a new day
When what I think - and who I am - coincide
The Mask is no longer needed
We are freed from the self-expectations that we've created in our life
There's only one thing that matters
Only you can change you - and that starts and ends in our mind
The Mask
No more false pretenses
The life now lived is embodied in all we do
When we become what we once pretended to be
Our virtue - provides the truth
