The Map
In life we choose the direction of our feet,
often by the way those around us expect us to go.
Shockingly, striking out on a new road,
or moving beyond the comfort zone of acceptance,
can be a challenge formidable even to titans.
Passion, empathy, sympathy and prayer,
replace the compass norm.
We have been to the stars, we will go back.
We have sailed the seas and now must learn to farm them.
New lands, new places, now planets…maybe.
The star chart, the sextant, ready to hand…
God’s bible, the Lord’s word, comfort in the dark.
Water washing over the bow.
Dust drummed up by the hooves of horses.
Lewis and Clark…one Indian woman.
Pieces across the grid, here and there.
Journey to the edge and back.
Test the limits of our boundaries,
ever humble to the maker of ALL THINGS!
