When you refuse to offer the hand of friendship you cheat yourself out of a friend. Don't wait until it's too late to let someone know you care.
He sat alone most every day as others milled about him.
They chatted and they shared their lives, he wasn't asked to join them;
And so he sat there all alone since no one was inclined,
To introduce themselves to him and spend a little time,
And try to get to know the man that others said was strange,
Who always sat there by himself as though 'twere prearranged,
That he should be the out-cast, the one that no one noticed,
Feeling slightly out-classed and sore in need of solace.
No one seemed to want to try to include him in their group,
And so he sat there day by day alone and sad and mute.
They never got to hear his laugh or see his sense of humor.
They never got to talk to him , they just believed the rumors,
That labeled him as strange and weird, a loner, anti-social.
They never took a chance and learned that he was really special.
Then one day he disappeared, they knew not where he went.
They did not know his time was short, his time on earth was spent.
