The Man That Cried
One day in August as the sun began to fade
I heard a man crying
quick to see what was wrong
I quickly realized in my curiosity I wasn't alone
surrounding this man was halo of on lookers
whispering to one another as to what could be wrong
many nudge each other to talk to the man
but all were afraid of his frame of 6'4"
but is he not a man as you or I the same
as one but did ask he did not reply he just cried
as he sobbed our hearts throbbed
for of his strength he was robbed
sitting on the curb unable to stand
so as curiosity grew so did the crowd
and we looked around to find the source of his pain
and there in plain sight
just three things
a medal
a flag
a note
what did it read
it read quite simply
Dear Sir we regrett to inform you your son has died
serving his country in the War on Terrorism.
That's all they wrote
tha's all they wrote.
