The Majestic Eagle
If I could only fly like you
So far above the earth
I would be so proud to view
This great land of my birth.
Did you ever wonder
Much the same as I
How God did determine
Which one of us would fly.
And do you wish, As I drive by
You could switch with me
And travel down these black trails
To lands you can't see?
Who is free you or me?
And if you took my place
Would you feel you were better off
Or would your friends look down in disgrace.
Me I'd soar above the earth
And not want for a thing
I'd be where I could see God
And hear the Angels sing.
I would have such freedom
I'd fly around the world
Not a thing to stop me
No more taxes, bills or worries.
I'd go to lands so distant
I hardly know they exist
I would have such freedom
There is nothing I would miss.
Just look at that poor squirrel
Laying in the road
Are those your cousins eating him
Oh my that is so gross.
But for me you would be there
For that's your way of life
You have duties to preform
Much the same as I.
You may not have taxes
You may not have bills to pay
What I see as freedom
Are your chores everyday.
You rid the earth of vermin
And have children to raise
And what I envied about you
Was just a passing phase.
God did not play favorites
He gave us both chores to do
Now that I am wiser,
I'll say good-bye to you.
