The Luxury of Breathing
"Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure."
- Oprah Winfrey
To breathe was once a luxury,
people now gasp in pain;
Death leaves a sigh of drudgery,
tears pour out unrestrained;
Loved ones left behind whisper why,
wonder what lies in store;
Infection rates are getting high,
they need oxygen more;
The murmur of the grave is heard
above the din of life;
Hard to utter another word,
when breathing is a strife;
Grateful to God for every breath,
today we are alive;
Some day, though we too will face death,
hope helps us to survive.
