The Lurid Moon

The lurid moon-
Dim as an eye,
squinting, and
waning unnoticed in
the despair of darkness,
like souls that trudge
through the roadless
vast transit of Sheol.
Guideless wanderers
lost: no spirit, essence,
nor aim.
