The Low and Slow Lights of the Night Fixtures

Listen to poem:
The Low and Slow Lights of the Night Fixtures
David J Walker

I am fairly sure the light fixtures
Rose from the ground
On their own

And wound their way through
The city as night fixtures
On the corners of
Each street where
They were sewn

By the blues players
In tight harmonic
Tones

Where the women danced
In a voluptuous trance
And the men who knew how
In the here and now

romanced their way
into the meanings of loves
homophone

I am fairly sure the light fixtures
At night
Were fixed on
Low and slow
