The Lost Child-Memory's Brevity

My mind is shrouded with mist
as I try to recall a faint memory
when the girl was still a child
which the years have dimmed

Trying to shake the fog out of my head
I let my mind sail back to those years
to revisit the past and see her again
I can see her now as the mist is lifted

Years haven't changed her, she's still the same
lost and forgotten to wander through life
time has left her stranded in the banks of the past
in her place a woman emerged no longer a child
