The Loss of a Loved One

I cannot begin to express in words
What I feel inside of me.
As I try to keep the pain at bay,
Try to hold the tears in
I long to shed.
I cannot begin to think about the days,
That will be hollow and empty
Without him here.
As I walk through empty rooms
And quiet streets,
Knowing he once walked here with me.
I cannot begin to let go of my emotions
That’s clawing against the walls of my heart.
Trying to adjust to the empty void he left behind
When he left this world.
A grave is all that’s left of him,
All that’s left in this reality
As I struggle to find peace within my heart.
Every new day I will start without him there.
Knowing this is reality and not just a terrible dream.
