Notes About The Poem

The Lonely Weed Poetry Contest ~ Sponsored By: Craig Cornish

The Lonely Weed

Winter will be over soon,
with a pretty spring full moon.
Birds will be singing to a musical tune,
as angelic butterflies come out of their cocoon.
In a big garden tall and straight I stand,
waiting for the flowers to bloom so it will be grand.
In this fertile land,
a lonely weed is now my new brand.
I need to watch out for the hand,
going to the trash can will be their command.

Weeds grow everywhere. Sometimes they produce beautiful flowers. A great poem.

They really are unstoppable things, and will grow almost anywhere, but I like the way you expanded this one into a springlike piece before getting out the trash can lol! Good fun poem for the contest Paula, cheers David

Some weeds do have some lovely blooms but are very prolific and we don't want them to stay around. If for a contest, it reads like a winner to me. Way to go. Sara K

The weeds are never allowed to flower. Sadly they are uprooted and destroyed. Some would have made the surroundings beautiful. But we never allow them to bloom. All the best dear Paula.
