The lonely weed

I thrive where others struggle to survive,
for my needs are few, yet my wings are strong,
vibrant in my being, feeling alive,
though judged by others I do not belong.

Just as on flowers thorns are unwanted,
I’m treated as a leper, always shunned
but be this as it may, I’m undaunted,
from dawn to dusk by God’s healing light sunned.

Look not at my form but spirit within,
glowing with the same light that lights all lights,
sipping nectar from earth by going in,
invoking grace as rapture that delights.

Rebel, a nerd, I follow not the herd ~
Yet hope my words will be by your heart heard
