The Lonely Poet

*****This repost went almost unnoticed, but I always was proud of its message: every artist that has an influence also has a responsibilty to his/her audience or reader**** The poet and the lonely road, betwixt his netherworld abode, in canyons deep, and in seldom trodden creeps, Always secrets, secrets.... too kept ---- he has made his humble abode, in the dark alone, he sleeps ---- with vipers and white (sepulchre) tombs (alone) He does not see the meadow, and daisies, (rising sun) nor words of wisdom on his tongue; fall away, to dark netherworld abodes.... Poet be he not, 'til fellowship and gratitude be his home, and grace in word be his love; of good cheer to all concerned and more ---- should even shadow knocketh, of this he writes Written in 2012

I think many poems go relatively un noticed but we still try and share our thoughts. After i started writing in 2013 I discovered that my mother wrote poetry but she never ever shared it with us, her own mother also wrote as did he sister and brother ( i take after them as they also wrote witty poems) season's greetings to you and your loved ones. Hope you post something new soon:-) hugs jan xx

a very lovely message, to share and not stay in the shadows. we all want to share with each other but it's such a big world with so many writers in it. The best we can do is hope that our friends enjoy what we share with them and that we all partake of each other's work as much as we can.

A poet must write. As a child must explore. When one bleeds heart to give and such is ignored--then tis normal to feel lonely. In life, one may find it is better to take a break and try again later. Your closing sums it up perfectly. fav and a gem my friend.

Many poets are lonely, Keith, especially those who write and keep their words hidden away in a drawer. Sharing with others enables those words to be seen from a different perspective. ~ Regards // paul

Very true. The poem is somehwat multifaceted in that art is meant to be shared; can you imagine if Shakespeare had kept everything to himself? or any great writer? Also what is being conveyed is a responsibilty I think of every artist who has the power to influence. An artist who is negative or too dark or cynical will be a lonely poet...

It's the discovery of beauty that inspires some of our best poetry, Keith. I like the way you infer that we can't be poets until we do see beauty in the world around us. Exceptional writing, my friend! Hugs, Carolyn

Thanks Chris for the visit. I think its really bad timing at times when we post; we are all mostly friends and respected admirers here. Everyone I find has something to contribute, I've had tons of glory, I don't feel insulted when a poem goes unnoticed, I've been regarded as the 'best' at various forms of poetry here, at least I've been told so countless times. Cheers;-)
