The Lighthouse Keeper

He stumbled,
and climbing painfully
heard echoes reverberate
hauntingly, as if to mock his
     existence.
A lifetime's singular occupation, yet
not lonely- -all those at sea
    his children, but
"The Keeper of the Flame"
now obsolete, replaceable, insignificant

weary, exhausted, the flicker became
   eternity

time stops for no one, AI will soon be coming for us all...a sad picture you've painted, I can see the wrinkled skin, the faded hat, the worn out coat, eyes fixed towards the sea,

yes and yes Frederic---shall we wish to move on and not be here or shall we wish to exist and fight the inevitable? Hmmm. I wish to be a pain till the end!

Ahhh thank you. That made it that much more beautiful. Now I can't see how I missed it.

This reads beautifully. Though I must admit, I do not know it's meaning.

Thx Shadow, but the analogy speaks of life in general and the sad reality of something becoming obsolete including ourselves; Lighthouses were forever lit by actual flames then electrical and now digital----no need for keepers that live there for quite some time----and it is not the end of obsolete nor the end of new, which will also at some point become obsolete.
