The Life I Have Found
I seem to leave behind my life that has passed
I stand in the sun not the shadow it casts
I still have all the memories of which I am fond
Somehow I have moved to somewhere beyond.
I never thought I’d start life over at fifty three
The amazement in sight seems like a child to me
Everything looks different like it’s brand new
I find this new purpose in all that I do.
I look in the mirror the reflection is me
I am quite content with this person I see
Change came so slowly that I wasn’t aware
So many people have helped me get there.
I head out the door but no one is around
The singing of the birds is the only sound
Soon it will change and life will resume
The walls I had built became much like a tomb.
It’s Sunday again and time to look back
Yet I see all I have instead of what I lack
I am grateful to live a little bit more
I can’t wait for what the future has in store.
I feel like a river that has reached the sea
This is the only destination that can be
Before me infinite possibilities I see
It opens my heart and sets my soul free.
