The Lesson
My eyes sink into bluish pre-war tile
adorning walls of endless case of stairs,
doors open, then a handshake and a smile
Top of the morning Sir, how is your day?
The elephants of china lift their trunks
the cake and coffee both await their fate
the portraits stare from walls as if to say
no more poetic babble, y’r running late!
To teach it takes a learner deep within,
the willingness to hear with ears and heart
to see between the lines, beneath the skin
‘t is how you change the world, so let us start!
