The Legend Between the Lines
The drum beats were heard from far
The music filled the air, everybody sang
In the household of kimunyi a son was born
Indication of a stronghold in the society
That he was the heir and supreme shareholder of the property
Heir! Heir! In every mouth that was the pride of the family
To be the pillar of the family and hold it gladly
Like the trumpets blown during the festivals
Their heartbeats blew happiness rhythmically entwined
Their dreams for him were big and hopeful
They entrusted their dreams to him purposefully for the generation to come
Indebted to them he was and he wouldn't bring them down
He grew with an extraordinary physique bold and strong
Profound in the ways of the society never going wrong
But between the dreams and visions of his family
And the society his dreams surfaced
He became like a fulcrum unable to balance
Between his visions and that of the society
In his dreams he wanted a different life
He wanted to unburden himself of the responsibility
And like a Wonderer he found himself in the city
He was naive not familiar with the new ways
But under that primitive skin there was purpose
The bridge between the two worlds was created
He was burned from the society
And no matter how much he wanted there was no going back
He pulled carts he swept the streets but he got stronger
Then between the lines he cut across
And he crossed the river
The legend between the lines
