                                landmark I've
                              just viewed -
                            the tower of

                    sadly skewed.

Gary, a lovely example of shape poetry reflecting a physical phenomenon mirroring a metaphysical truism. Our upcoming American presidential elections and the spin they generate amongst the talking heads is evidence of how skewed the world is, not to mention the economic inequities, racial injustices, wars, and so on. Such an insightful and provocative little piece. Well done, my friend

John, what a wonderful comment. I LOVE your first sentence in particular. Thank you. Ann and I visited Pisa in 2014 and I came up with the idea for this poem while watching someone posing in a fun way that made them look like they were holding up the tower by way of angle and where they were stood. (Actually it seemed everyone had that same idea for a photo that day). Cheers - Gary

Thanks Line! :) I actually find writing a shorter poem harder than writing a longer one - possibly as I have to cram the idea(s) in quicker. Who knows? :) Cheers - Gary

So true. Actually it is straight it is just leaning from the foundation. Our world IS skewed, especially right now. Congratulations on your wonderful win. Blessings xxoo

I've changed a line to place emphasis on the tower 'not leaning" now rather than it "not being straight' Cheers - Gary

Hi Connie - you are ro right - it IS actually straight. I'm now thinking as I write this if there is any word that rhymes with perpendicular :) Thanks for the congratulations and for making me think further too :) Cheers - Gary

David, thanks for the visit and your insightful comments. Yes, it may come across as a jest but it's not meant to be. I must be getting old as certain world events leave me scratching my head and going to bed each night quite concerned about them. Cheers - Gary

Hello Gary Radice, Was the building built like that? Or did a strong wind blow it that shape? I am just wondering. Enjoy your day my friend.
