The Law of Ice

I remember when I came to you to have it all explained
Why you kept us both apart, in silence and in pain
You almost broke, you nearly spoke, you were about to say
I don't know what, because you shook your head and walked away

The law of ice has come between us, and there's nothing I can do
If you won't talk to me, then I can't talk to you
You've broken up my heart, just like you tore me all apart
But I could see inside your eyes, that the words were there inside
You only did not know the way to start

I remember when you used to speak a thousand words an hour
And every time I came, your smile with bloom just like a flower
But now a deep and killing frost has come, and maybe all is lost
Though I still have a hope that you will want to be with me

When will the sunshine come again?
When will the rivers melt in spring?
When will you be like way back when
You used to dance, and clap, and sing?

When will the ice all melt away,
And flow as water to the floor?
When will you find the words to say
That you don't want this anymore?

Beautiful, moving and sad. People do change and we can never know which direction they're headed. Still, we can dream...
