The Law

The law was given, that the offense might abound, So man would know of his guilt, yes, the whole world around; The law is our schoolmaster, to bring us to the Lord, To reject the law and it's Giver, you cannot afford! For the law says you're guilty, condemned, and sentenced to die, And we cannot help ourselves, no matter how much we try; For the wages of sin is death, the law says so, For we were all born sinners, and to hell we'd surely go! For without the law, man wouldn't know, that he came up short, For he missed the mark, that God requires, a very sad report; The law of God has done it's job, it's got you condemned, you see, Bringing you to the One, that can release and set you free! The law is not your enemy, for it's a very useful tool, Teaching you of the debt you owe, while you go to school; If this schoolmaster you will not hear, it won't turn out well, For to be cursed under the law, you'll only end up in hell! The law has found us all guilty, no use to build yourself a case, Your sentence will forever stand, unless He does erase; For He gives full pardons, to all who will come clean, And He will not pardon, while performing a religious routine! The law is forever stated, and will not ever change, Yonder upon Calvary, the laws' satisfaction did hang; But the law is not at all, satisfied with the fallen race, For to be found in Him is our only hope, for He took our place! -DW

I like your theme Corey. When poems rhyme I always categorize them as rhyme. Free verse are the ones that do not rhyme, also blank verse.
