Notes About The Poem

The Late Bloomer

She is awakened by the heavy rain
when summer bids adieu.
Intense excitement, eager to sustain,
hits home, and right on cue

from hibernation slowly finds her way
to where the waiting sun
extends a welcome for a blissful stay:
a greeting not to shun.

Autumn Narcissus – fragrance fills the air.
A fleeting presence – ours a brief affair.

Well, of course I had to look up this flower. It resembles a daffodil in the photo above, but daffodils bloom in early spring. Your use of personification is excellent. What a shame that such a beautiful bloom lasts a short time. Excellent entry for Dear Heart's contest, Paul. Wishing you success. Also, sending a Soup Mail. Hugs, Carolyn

Thank you, Carolyn. Unfortunately many beautiful flowers die young...and yet we are lucky to partake of their beauty, even if only for a short while! Soup Mail attended to. Hugs // paul
