for Craig's contest Black and White

I sit to ponder on my life and death, knowing one day my memories will end. As I approach my last days I don't want yesterday, to be more important than tomorrow. I don't want to relive the shades and shadows, of what has passed. How sad that would be, how empty that would be. The temptation to do so is there, it's easy to believe, I have lived enough, and spend the last years of life resting and reflecting. It's unfulfilling and has no sense of accomplishment. So I'll march on, one slow step after another, my face in the wind, my eyes facing forward, until my final memory is my last breath.

Dear friend, dear poet, I adore the persuasive, perseverant spirit of your amazing introspective poem. As I 'grow' into my older years I relate strongly to your poetic thoughts so eloquently expressed in the tender passion of your verse. I was especially struck by "As I approach my last days I don't want yesterday,/to be more important than tomorrow" and "it's easy to believe,/I have lived enough" - wow! poignant and profound. Congratulations for your win in Craig's contest with this deep, affecting piece. A fav for me, dear Frederic. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

A very heartfelt and profound write this is dear frederick, i felt this, so very much especially the way youv written “ I don't want to relive the shades and shadows, of what has passed.” i can resonate with that, and i think many would too, “ How sad that would be, how empty that would be. The temptation to do so is there, it's easy to believe, I have lived enough,” easy to believe and is reassuring to say that to ones self! This is such a soulfully moving poem. Pleasure reading, congratulations

A great read of an universal theme with the ultimate reality. When there is truth, it comes from a very heart with such depth. Regards

I love this poem. I guess I am taking it too literally , not knowing how the heck to address that black and white theme
