The Last Journey

It was the last journey
To visit his childhood home.
The place where he truly found bliss
Never thought I would come back for this.

It made me wistful
Of a bygone time
For this too was my home
The one I had made for him

The came home one day
The day I never forget
It was when time truly stood still
But I was young and naive
Not to realise what fate had in store for me.

The took me to a place
He had learned to call home
That one time I had let him go
I knew I was gonna lose him
Just how much I would never know

They said he would be ok
As I saw him lay still before me
The village doctor would soon be there
But I knew
In my heart of hearts
The angels had already visited him.
