The last flight

Cold air buzzed through the window.
A stranger in autumn visited my room.
An alate, tired and despaired,
Counting its last breath,
Slowly died before my eyes.
I wonder—it wasn’t for a nuptial flight.
Wings didn’t fall—only writhed on the ground.
While tiny ones crawled around.
