The Last Few Days Before Bliss
the center collapses
the density of suffocation merges
we feast on bitter blood
caged in these last few days
just before
the shot rings out
the pendulum traces eternity across our backs
we put our fingers in to reassure us
the wheel itself emerges
through coupled hands we dream
spooning on the bed
the wheel of years turns our tails to heads
in the echo of scales, eyes like eyes
coils slipping through lashes
embracing light
