the large eye

I had heard there were dangers in the Amazon
But I had travelled down this river for three days
without feeling threatened

Enjoying the colorful birds
with their tweets and whistles
today the monkeys were screaming and leaping

I wondered what spooked them 
Ten yards from me there was a tiny part in the grasses
I saw a large eye, and I knew
