The Lake
The lake is my solace
A blanket of healing ripples for my troubled mind and heart
A calm to my restlessness
I sit on this dock in awe and wonder
My thoughts are as deep as the waters in front of me, and as vast as the sky above me
Beyond the cattails, ducks silently paddle along
The choir of crickets reverberate a soothing white noise, steadily humming and numbing my emotional unrest
My soul is anxious to be at peace
All the while, the world awakens around me
Morning routines start come to life
The sun begins to rise, holding the promise of another beautiful summer's day
I yearn to bask in the warmth of its radiant rays
And embrace the beauty surrounding me
A remedy for my soul
