The Lady In the Blue Frame
Your picture takes a lot of guff from me yet that expression never changes
Although sometimes it looks like you're laughing then other times pity
As in a famous painting it's hard to know what the subject is thinking
Of course my interpretation will be a reflection of what I'm feeling
I'm mad at you most of the time
You disappointed me too
Past destruction voided any apologies we attempted
The offender still goes to prison whether penitent or not
But Mom, I'm choosing to believe God gave me a second chance
A lady I was hired to care for reminded me so much of you
Willful, hilarious, brilliant, talented and distant
It was you I happily showered and your sheets I changed
Such a gift allowing me to look after you before your demise
You and I were close the last four years of her life
