The Lady Down the Lane

You were a sweet old lady Whom I admired greatly You always kept a smile On your face and A kind word to say You always could tell When someone had a problem You said, that it was written All over their faces Your advice was always spot on You loved to talk about The good old days and your Stories were very exciting It was hard to believe that That things like that Happened in your time As I passed your house In the lane, I didn't see You on the porch I passed again, looking for you
