The Joy of Being Alone

The joy of being alone

The joy of being alone
comes in the silence known;
No one to break the bliss and ease
with which one meets the inner me...

Such joy that can be found
to dine in a restaurant alone;
Pick your own meal and eat -
Enjoy the quiet, enjoy the peace...

For when we're alone,
we step outside the lane
that we are expected
to follow next...

We can choose to breathe...
We can choose with ease...
Any activity that we please...

And the mind is free to think...
And the heart is free to feel...
And the soul is free to heal...
And the being can finally meet itself...

For if you're never alone and you never decide
what you want to think, or do, and abide;
You'll never be able to really know
who and what you are above all else...
