The Journey

The old man cried as he awakened in bed
While missing his Mrs. he yearned for her touch
"I have lived far to long" to his nurse he said
I never thought losing could hurt so much
Ashamed to admit that he had to be fed
And keeping her picture in hand he did clutch

The journey through life is both happy and sad
Yet still worth the living and knowing we had...

This is so true to life. This makes me so sad to think of seniors who get separated when it is time to go into a nursing home or lose one partner and are totally lost in life. Loved this poem. God Bless Phyl
