The Island of Alcatraz

Startled clouds lurk midst a gate
beams stretch crossed a bay
pylons yon the sneaky fog
dreams fetch castaway.
Deserted prison
vagary hopes long entombed
averted risen.

A fascinating place but one that fills you with horror and sadness! san Francisco is one of the most fascinating places that I have visited!! Thanks for this example. Shall see if I can think of something.

Your poem brings back the memories and images from our visit to San Francisco in '92 William. There was always an early morning mist shrouding the Golden Gate Bridge. We took the boat trip and walked around Alcatraz. There's a great atmosphere created by your words and I feel I'm there now :) Cheers - Gary

I wrote a short story on PS about my sad days living in SF till the '80s, tho' I've never gone there, Gary, glad you enjoyed the times you had there and SF in general, my daughter now lives in my home her older siblings had grown up in during those times. Anyhow, enjoy your day my friend, Aloha!
