The Incoherence of Affection

the incoherence of affection
i have begged to claim me
but has failed and let the mists clear
why couldn't I lust and strive
for it would be kinder than love
this cursed virtue
that bids me stay selfish need
sweet incoherence inflame me!
at least then I can say I tried
when he leaves me here alone
as is now my wish also
as my soul has found a twin
and now it lives for him
no longer me

Misty, very heartfelt work. I hope your soul learns to live for YOU as well. It seems you have much to offer, Carolyn
