The Immortal Soul
We look around and see
How beautiful things are –
The color of the leaves;
The sparkling distant stars
But inside also beauty lies
Behind the nearest pair of eyes;
Within the hearts of those who care,
And in the frequent passerby
It is in lives we never knew,
And friends we could not have;
In memories kept close to us,
The joyful and the sad
And though our lives will one day fade –
Our bodies turn to dust,
The traces of a beauty shared
Endure in everlasting trust
Etched clear in stone they will remain
On temples hidden deep inside,
Unseen by most, yet visible –
A spirit which can never die.
