The Human Heart

O' heart, I wonder how
you can store
so many different
emotions of ours
in just thy four puny
chambers
while pumping away the
liquid of life

O' heart in you we
discover love
but side by side you
harbour hate
In you we find the
emotion of happiness
but side by side you
harbour rage!

When you cease to beat
many plans you thwart
May God protect the
young human heart

And while some O' heart
you hold dear
some make you skip a
beat in fear!

O' heart but we find in
you as well
the bad bad emotion of
jealousy
Such a potpourri of
emotions in you dwell
Help filter out any wrong
ones for me!

A mere four chambers
indeed but spacious are
they
invite therein
whomsoever in the
world you may

But in the end forget not
to reserve
atleast a single chamber
for its Creator, to
preserve

I like the duality in the second stanza. And I particularly liked the the blood being described as the "liquid of life".

Interesting poem for me to read as I am going through these very things - learning to love people who act out negatively as I pursue what God put in my heart to do - as I think you have dealt with this too. If everyone would see what God gave them to do and pursue it - and if they would see what their own strengths were - they would not have to find other people to punch - there's a difference when creative types - grow into who they truly are verses who they are truly not = strength!

I love how you examine the heart's many functions beyond being merely a person's life source. And we all definitely need to preserve a chamber for our Creator. I think many people forget that. I'm glad you remembered. :-)

HAT A CREATIVE WAY OF EXPRESSING FAITH...IN THE LAST LINE, AFTER EXPRESSING ALL THE MYRIAD FUNCTIONS OF THE HEART. YOU HAVE FAITH ENOUGH TO REMEMBER THAT GOD ALSO NEED A SPACE IN THAT CHAMBER. GREAT POEM POTPOURI, I MEAN KAMOONPURI (JOKE!)
