The Human Disgrace

With intelligence abounding,
His destruction is astounding.
From devastating habitat
Of species that could keep him fat.
To introducing toxic gas
That allow sun’s rays to pass.
With written history, science books,
You’d think he’d stop to take a look
At actions that could cause man harm.
But instead develops weapons,
So that everyone is armed
Is he creation’s antithesis?
Or evolution’s biggest mess?
Time only knows, and it won’t tell.
If future be Heaven, or if it be Hell

I've often pondered that future; we live in disturbing times, but thank God there's poetry and poets. Beautifully penned.
