The House Called Loneliness
The House Called Loneliness
In every town, on a forgotten corner's ground,
Stands a house called loneliness, by time worn down.
Passing by it, your heart skips a beat,
And your thought takes flight: "If only... if only I'd had the chance to make it complete."
"If only" are words that carry a lifetime of regret,
But they cannot heal a house's wounds, not even the deepest ones yet.
Shuttered windows, collapsed roof above,
The walls confess stories of an endless past they're made of.
A house so lonely, so weary and sad,
That lost its joy, its light, and all it once had.
Rickety stairs, walls full of traces,
Only wood worms and memories that time erases.
No child to play in the garden, only silence remains,
A condemned house, without hope, without soothing pains.
Poor lonely house, someone's lost dream,
Now stands witness to the world's changes, to all that's been built it seems.
This lonely house, in progress's way it stands,
For a new highway, it will be torn down, demolished by hands.
The house called loneliness can be anywhere at all,
In town, in country, or even beside you, hidden from the world's call.
Even on your street, there exists a house called loneliness,
Waiting for you to pass by and say "If only..." with sadness and tenderness.
