the hounds of hell
my husband and I both like to keep weird hours
we can be up all night
or part of the night
and be happy during the day
until a delivery man comes
and the hounds of hell begin their braying
we have two large dogs with barking voices
they do not like strangers
the delivery man runs from the scene
thinking they are at his heels
they are not
they are hiding behind us
barking dire warnings to the intruder
