The Home of Sand and Lovebugs

The Home of Sand and Lovebugs By Elton Camp Florida represents itself as a retiree’s paradise Plenty of things, you will find, aren’t so nice If you buy a house located on shifting sand Don’t be shocked if it doesn’t long stand Hurricanes, mosquitoes, gators are no surprise See lovebugs & you’ll hardly believe your eyes They come in swarms both spring and fall You’ll wish you’d never moved there at all To stay mated even in flight is what they do So if you encounter one, there will be two Windshield you quickly can’t see through Stop & clean them off is all you can do Radiator they will clog and car then overheat As noxious pests, they are very hard to beat If you pick Florida for your retirement place A host of problems you will have to face Alabama’s a far better place for you to be Especially in the north, up near Tennessee

Spring break sees lovebugs of a different type, but I can see how some of the description could fit! In the original, this poem is supported by pictures. If you are inclined to do so, go here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/74169117/The-Home-of-Sand-and-Lovebugs Elton
