The Highest Accolade
My highest ever accolade
By my daughter to me was paid
When she sweetly said to me
“Mama, I love your poetry
Now that we have some free time
Read to me one of your rhymes
And Mama, you write so well
You have great stories to tell
But Mama, please write of me
That would make me so happy.”
The one who is my heart and soul
With this comment made me whole
What sweeter praise can I hear
Than those from her lips so dear
My daughter is my pride and joy
I wrongly guessed it was a boy
But God gave me a precious girl
She’s Mama’s most precious pearl
The highest accolade for me
Is that she loves my poetry!
