The Heaviness
The quiet is heavy with the emptiness
Leaves mingle and as the soft winds rustle
They whisper I am
The crows this morning complained loudly
Only unshelled peanuts filled the rail
There are times when the days do not
Speak to me nor fill my heart with hope
The crows have left the fence
The leaves are still
This day is heavy with gray clouds
The dog needs his stitches taken out
He does not trust us today
He may forgive in an hour
Such is the heart of a dog that is loved
The crows not so much
I am so tired
Deeply deeply worn and weary
What can I find to be
Refilled restocked replenished
And look again toward the sky filled with stars
And the stars twinkle back?
