The Heavens Awake

The sky is dark
in the holds of night,
everything slumbers
until the heavens awake.

The first pale ray
pierces the gloom,
followed by another
as dim light spreads.

Slowly the majestic fire
rises to the day,
sunbeams fill the dark
and it stirs the world.

On with another day,
the sun, now arisen,
until night falls
and morning comes again.
