The Heat of One Night
If it's a penny for your thoughts,
mine would cost a dime..
A twisting, turning metamorphosis,
that holds not one straight line..
So let me take you deep within,
but your eyes may see despair.
For all the wrong words that ever graced my lips,
will be screaming at those, to whom I care..
If we descend even deeper still,
my dirty deeds appear.
To me they are so far long gone,
but they haunt me as if they're near..
Look to your left, but watch your hands,
for the man in cage is me.
Don't get too close to the hair-trigger lock,
or you'll set all his rage a free..
Back up to the surface now,
as my smile will draw you in.
Where my charm and outer polish,
can hide my inner sin..
I keep all the bad so locked up tight,
all suppressed, never seeing the light.
As it is my nature, to always do right,
but that can all change in the heat of one night..
