The Heartache of Farewell

The heartache of farewell
Comes in layers and degrees of torment and suffering
Some good and Bad, some may say it is all good in the end
But regardless of platitudes and positive thinking after reflection at the end
The pain is real and the consequences of the choices made
Of whether to say goodbye or to stay
Doesn’t matter, doesn’t go away, doesn’t heal in some ways
As a farewell of a friend you may never see again
Or a farewell to a career you loved and can no longer be apart of
But of a relationship much deeper between two lovers
Who have spent a decade of their prime years choosing to stay together
Only for one to decide to part in the end without the other ever see it coming.
