The Heart of the Matter

No passion, no struggle is allowed!
New poets, to make it here, please this crowd!
Write about pets, rainbows, flowers and the moon.
Step outside that zone, ignored you will be, soon!

As a writer , if you be, a royal choice is yours.
Do not think, any words a poem makes, so choose!
To please this mixed band?
Or let golden words slip from your hands.

Thus, will pass on what I learned here.
Your poem is your strongest gear!
Comments do not a good poem make.
Write of your truth, your views, for poetry’s sake!

Evolving often into prophesy. The heart, in its fullest expression, not simply an organ, nor a place where feelings and emotions are stored for regurgitation -- it is the human gateway to Divine Essence. Excellent poetry is more demanding. I am not even near where I want to go. Agreement not needed on excellence. Take opera...or opera singers. You know the great ones. Not all poetry is great..Not mine, and this is a poem tightly crafted with hard edges.I like it. Most won’t.
