The Heart of a Comedian

He revels in spasms of sarcasm
Laughter from now to the hereafter

Peels off insults like a snake sheds it skin
The better his audience to capture

               Inside his brain one-liners a-churning
to be dispensed for nightly earnings ...

In his heart of hearts he despises his craft ~
Wishes he were anything but daft

That could be. Sometimes we listen to the comedy on Sirius. Most of these comedians seem to have no life, which makes their craft boring..to me at least. One in a while a good one comes on and yes I remember…and jokes are great.

Such irony, a sense of sadness hiding behind the laughs.
