The Heart Left Behind

There is no me without you
I simply cease to exist
Time stands still both day and night
And I'm trapped within its midst

A heartbeat gone, now silent
And mine alone remains
Death chose you to violate
And snared you within his chains

There's no one to hear me whisper
No one to make me smile
I can still feel your presence
They say it's blind denial

Your pillow still lays beside me
Your perfume mixed with tears
I see your face each night I sleep
But in the morning it disappears

I'll cherish every memory
That I've captured in my mind
'Til death returns to harvest
The heart he left behind
