The Heart

For most of my life, I had heard it said, 'Follow your heart.' It made sense to me, but there was a measure of vagueness. Only a few years ago did I hear someone say, 'Do not follow your heart; LEAD your heart'. Someone has also said, 'Lead, follow, or get out of the way. ' What shall I then do? Upon hearing the word, LEAD, I knew immediately. I knew that my heart did not have the leadership qualities required to navigate this journey of mine. I knew that my heart reeked with inconsistencies. At times, it was indecisive, weak, and worried. At times, it displayed both surprises and deceit. With such traits, how could my heart be depended upon to lead me through the hills and valleys of life? I needed decisiveness, strength, confidence, and faith. I needed something, someone, greater than me or my heart. That is where Christ and His teaching came in with answers.
