The Heart

The heart is a terrible thing to waste
A terrible thing to ignore
Much better to say that you gave it away
Then letting it die on the floor

Just anyone’s heart is yours to touch
Just anyone’s heart is real
It doesn’t relate to the food that you ate
It responds to the way that you feel

Your pet has a heart that is faithful and true
It knows when you’re gentle and kind
It longs to be loved by the love in your heart
It cries when you leave it behind

The family of man is the story of hearts
The heart is what matters the most
You give it away to the people you love
No less than the heart of a ghost

If you have a heart that is tiny inside
A secret that nobody knows
Then give it away by the end of the day
And you’ll be surprised when it grows!
